I participated in a lobbying effort on Capitol Hill to address the Human Rights violations in the Dominican Republic, where upwards of 200,000 Dominicans, most of whom are dark skinned, have been stripped of their citizenship. Junot Diaz and Edwidge Danticat were also part of the group of concerned citizens. This is probably one of the most fulfilling work I've ever done.

Mission accomplished! You will recall the general indignation when the CBC reported on the dozen sites in Quebec which included the N-word in the toponomy, including "N*gger Rapids." north of Gatineau. The Quebec authorities had no appetite for changing the insulting names. Apparently, they caved to public shaming came to their senses. I can only hope they will mend fences by honouring oft-forgotten visible minority heroes who helped make Quebec the pioneering province it is today. Hint, hint.

What a coincidence. Second year in a row I get to attend a FIFA semi-final where Germany opposes the USA. Last year, Germany won over the USA in Brazil. This year, the American women showed Germany the door at a sold-out game in Montreal's Olympic stadium. I took my dad to the game. #RoadTrip

I'm attending FIFA World Cup games for the second year in a row. Enjoying the games in Ottawa and Montreal. I love Germany's Celia Sasic! I saw her dominate the games at Lansdown Park.

It's Black History Month! While the temptation is high to fixate on African American exploits and MLK, I hope Canadians take time to learn about the contribution of Afro-descendants in CANADA. That's the portion of history that is least understood and most ignored. I will be on Rogers TV 23 in Ottawa on Monday, Feb 2nd and on Radio-Canada's Ottawa feed after 5 p.m. ET.

Second, I was interviewed by Wing-D, an Ottawa based online magazine and lifestyle website hoping to celebrate life through creative articles, pictures and videos. They called me "fierce".
